The Charles Bridge

Czech Republic, Prague

It is thanks to King Charles that The Charles Bridge appeared. In 1357, Peter Parlerz, the architect of St. Vitus Cathedral, started the construction. The bridge is well-known for its numerous sculptures. On its two sides there are big towers — built in different periods, but united by the gothic style. This splendid monument lives a very vivid life — it is a popular place for meetings and walks and a permanent location of street painters, musicians and souvenir sellers.
